Six security bugs and five (!) zero-day exploits: Hacking a VR console to add a song to Beat Saber. π₯½πͺπβ³οΈβοΈ
Security researcher behind the nickname tihmstar presents a deep hardware-hacking journey whose goal was pretty simple: playing custom songs in Beat Saber on a locked-down gaming console.
To play one custom Beat Saber song, tihmstar and the team ended up designing their own voltage-regulator mod chip, glitching an AMD security processor, dumping encrypted firmware, reversing boot ROMs, and exploiting CPU reset behavior.
Impressive work, great insights, and a great example of a hardware hacking journey. You will learn a lot!
