A group of academic experts from Australia shared, back in 2024, their comprehensive 43-page review of the satellite-based communication ecosystem, which includes emergency communications, products and technologies on the market, as well as the challenges, limitations, and industries that rely on them.

Cybersecurity is covered on pages 33-34, but there is much more to learn here.

I think it’s the most detailed public work on satellite communication protocols available for commercial use that I’ve seen so far. If you’re into satellite communications cybersecurity, this paper will be a one-stop shop for new research ideas.
