Rocket cybersecurity 101: Technical details & how these systems have been hacked since 2011. π¨π»βπ»παα||αππ₯
Security researcher and space security expert Paul Coggin, in his presentation, shares an overview of and the basics of rocket cybersecurity, how it works, and ways to disrupt its operation. Not satellites, but the rockets themselves.
From how rocket science works to rocket cybersecurity, architecture, and threat models, to key components (FTS, AFSS) that may be targeted in cyberattacks - very interesting and definitely not common knowledge.
Itβs pretty clear that this field of knowledge and expertise is highly classified. However, the author presents some messages and facts indicating that practical attacks on rockets have already been happening - since at least 2011.
I do not know how many of us have had or will have a chance to run a practical attack on rocket systems, but now you are ready with the basics :) Stay safe, and enjoy the presentation!
