Practical antennas 101: pretty much everything an RF security expert needs to know about them. π‘αα||απΌπ»π¨π»βπ»
RF expert Neil Heft shares, in one of his presentations, the super interesting and very useful topic of antennas - I would argue, the most useful topic in RF cybersecurity.
The presentation focuses on building and choosing HF antennas under real-world constraints like limited yard space, HOAs, budget, tools, trees, and family/neighborhood limits - because every antenna is a compromise.
Did you know that radio waves behave differently in wire than in empty space, and are also affected by the ground and nearby objects? This is why people use 468 instead of 492 in the dipole formula. Or at least they should!
If youβre into RF cybersecurity, this is a must-watch presentation. If youβre looking for something interesting to learn, this is definitely the presentation to consider. Enjoy!
