Maritime cybersecurity: which systems on a ship can be attacked, analysis of past incidents, and open challenges. 🚢 👨🏻💻 🏴☠️🆘
A group of academic maritime experts from Singapore: Meixuan Li, Jianying Zhou, Sudipta Chattopadhyay, and Mark Goh - presented a comprehensive review of maritime cybersecurity that includes both an in-depth analysis of threats in maritime systems and an examination of the latest cybersecurity incidents.
I like such reviews - they give you some perspective on what the industry looks like, which key systems attackers may focus on (spoiler: AIS, GNSS, ECDIS, VDR, RADAR, VSAT, and GMDSS), and they also point you in the right direction for future research.
If you are into maritime cybersecurity, this can give you another perspective. And if this is a new field for you, this paper may serve as your first overview of what is going on.
Enjoy the read, and please share it with your peers and colleagues. Thank you!
