Introduction to fault injection attacks: how to find vulnerabilities that cannot be patched. ๐จ๐ปโ๐ปโก๐โ๏ธโ๐ฅ๐
Security researcher Joe Rozner presents his introductory lecture on fault injection attacks against microcontrollers and embedded systems. Quite an impressive overview of a very complicated topic in just 40 minutes.
Why is this type of attack something you want to invest your time in? Because fixing a vulnerability in a boot ROM may require manufacturing entirely new silicon masks and producing new chip revisions โ since it cannot simply be patched in software.
Recommended to anyone interested in learning fault injection as a skill - and if you already know it well, check it out anyway. And please share it with your friends and colleagues!
