How to hack a Tesla into being "connected" with no internet: LTE attacks on connected cars. ππ±ππ¨βπ»π΅
Security researchers Evangelos Bitsikas, Jason Veara, and Aanjhan Ranganathan share their recent research results on the security analysis of cellular connectivity in Tesla cars, including the Model 3 and Cybertruck.
According to the paper, Tesla cars are vulnerable to multiple cellular attacks, including insecure or poorly handled fallback states. The authors were able to trap the vehicle in degraded network conditions and make a Tesla appear fully βconnectedβ at the cellular level while it had no internet access.
And I love the Faraday tent the team was using - a great and practical idea! But check your local regulator before you want to use this solution in your lab. :)
Interesting and very practical research, especially for the automotive industry. Enjoy the read, and please share it with colleagues and friends!
