Security researcher Gerhard “IKARUS” Klostermeier invested a lot of time and creativity in finding ways to break out of kiosk-mode systems and shared the insights from those findings in his recent presentation.
From how the kiosk is built to how to approach it, along with tips and tricks you can use to access management consoles, the PC desktop, or the system shell. The presentation is full of demos and videos, so make sure you watch the video first!
I have to admit that this is a hobby of mine - breaking out of every kiosk mode while I’m waiting in line (or not). Most of the tricks I know are in this presentation, and I learned a few new ones!
