Security researcher Quentin Kaiser shared, a couple of months ago, his practical workshop on firmware extraction, exploration, and emulation of an AC charging controller used in many EV charging stations around the world.
The controller is CHARX SEC-3100 from Phoenix Contact, and during the workshop author takes you through all the process of analysis, share some interesting tools and tips.
The workshop finish when you have a fully emulated device firmware running, so you can start your own security research.
Enjoy the workshop, it is a great opportunity to learn hardware hacking of EV chargers components in controlled and practical way. And please share with friends and colleagues who may benefit from it as well.
