Hacking an Audi A7, ECUs, and drones: a hacking contest in Korea with more than 200 participants. ๐๐ ๏ธ๐๐จ๐ปโ๐ปโข๏ธ
In November 2025, Kookmin University in Korea organized a nationwide event that received little coverage outside the country: a car hacking contest with more than 200 participants from 27 universities. The main focus was on CAN Bus and internal car networks.
The contest was held in two stages:
1๏ธโฃ Preliminary stage - selection of finalist teams from 200 contestants across 50 teams.
2๏ธโฃ Final stage -10 teams (40 participants) took part in the live event.
To my knowledge, during the final part of the competition, some participating teams were able to demonstrate interesting results to Volkswagen Security.
Looks cool, even if the findings were not for publication. The openness of the VW Group to such a public event demonstrates a change in the mindset of classic automotive companies. And this is good! :)
