Hacking a Smart Home hub for $40,000: a long and interesting hardware security journey to Pwn2Own. 🧠🏠👨🏻💻☠️‼️
Last month, security researchers Daan Keuper and Thijs Alkemade shared their journey attempting to hack the Aeotec Smart Hub for smart homes and win $40K in the Pwn2Own competition.
In this research presentation, you will learn not only the mindset and key attack scenarios, but also how long it takes to read the entire flash in 1-bit eMMC mode (answer: “the whole weekend”) and why a cheap target is not necessarily a “soft” target.
