Hackers can steal energy from electric cars: a new attack on EVs - and now it’s for profit. 🚘⚡🚙😈💸

What if one could charge their EV by stealing energy from other EVs? Academic researchers Jakob Löw, Dominik Bayerl, Kevin Mayer, and Hans-Joachim Hof present their findings on vulnerabilities in modern electric vehicles that allow exactly that.

With widely available solar hardware and a bit of hacking, a malicious portable “charger” can become a portable battery drainer in no time. It’s a scary and fairly easy-to-implement attack.
