Fault injection attacks on the Snapdragon 845: trying to break Qualcomm’s SoC for robots 📱🤖⚡👨🏻💻⛔
Security researcher Ambre Iooss set an ambitious goal: to run unsigned code on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (SDM845) system-on-chip with secure boot enabled. This time - not successfully.
The presentation is a very good example of how one (maybe you?) should approach security research involving fault injection attacks: from analysis to simulation, real-world mapping, and documentation. This applies both to you and to those who will follow your work.
Why does the SDM845 interest me? Because, apart from mobile phones (2019–2020), this SoC is also a core part of the Qualcomm Robotics RB3 Platform and a few other very interesting products. :)
