Attacking telecom: security bugs from 2G to 5G, SMS exploits, and SS7 & Diameter protocols. π±αα||απ‘π¨βπ»π¦
Security researcher and telecom expert Altaf Shaik presented his research last month on the security state of mobile telecom networks. He discovered that mobile networks (2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G) keep repeating the same security mistakes. Vendors often βpatchβ symptoms rather than fixing the root cause.
From December 3, 1992, when the first SMS was sent, until now - itβs super interesting!
To conclude: 5G (and the upcoming 6G) dramatically increases the threat landscape - connecting cars, factories, healthcare, and the military - while many old vulnerabilities still persist.
Please enjoy the presentation, share it with your colleagues and friends, and stay safe!
