Attack on Tesla Wall Connector from the car using an undocumented firmware update protocol. Weaponized vehicle, finally! ⛽🔌🚘 😈
Security researcher David Berard shared an interesting piece of research a couple of days ago - work that he (and his team?) did. This research focuses on a long-awaited attack vector, where an attacker can use a Tesla car as a hacking tool to break into the charger. Weaponized Tesla!
Researchers were able to create a Tesla car simulator and discover an undocumented feature of the Tesla Wall Connector - it can receive firmware updates from the car. With this in hand, the researchers successfully attacked the Wall Connector.
Good and interesting research. Enjoy, share, and kudos to the Synacktiv team!
